The Heinrich- and Minna-Schuldt-Stift ( also short: Schuldstift) in Flensburg - Westliche Höhe , is a monastery building erected in the 19th century . It is one of the city's cultural monuments .

background

The monastery building was built in 1920/21 according to plans by the architects Guido Widmann and Magnus Schlichting in the homeland security style and was then given the addresses Nerongsallee 46-46a . Over the course of time, a number of monastery buildings were erected in the city, such as the neighboring Anthon monastery in 1922 (Nerongsallee 44) and the old people's home of the Flensburg merchants (Nerongsallee 42). Heinrich-Schuldt (* 1840, † 1924) was a Flensburg ship owner, city councilor, chairman of the Flensburg trade association and an honorary citizen of the city.

The Heinrich and Minna Schuldt monastery is a three-wing complex with an H-shaped floor plan and two storeys. In the middle of the street facade there is a foundation inscription board. The simple plastered building was built as a retirement home for twelve families. Inside the building there are two-room apartments with a kitchen, pantry and toilet. The monastery building has recently been placed under monument protection for historical, artistic and urban planning reasons . Incidentally, Heinrich-Schuldt-Straße , which was named after the deceased male founder in 1924, runs directly on the north side of the monastery building .
