Harnis Harnæs
|
"Harnis" originally referred to a "stony headland " ( land nose) that was at the northern end of the ballast bridge . - The word "Nis" occurs several times in place names in the fishing area , for example in Habernis . "Nis" means nose or headland . Nis is also not only the name of a person, but also the name of a creature called Nis ; see. Holnis . - The term "Harnis" was later used as a field name . Instead of the headland that has disappeared, there is now the “Harniskaispitze”, a small peninsula (see Harniskai in this list). The name "Harnis" has been documented since 1530. The "Hölzung Harnis" located in the area in the 16th century belonged to the rural community of St. Jürgen . A well-known owner of the 16th century was Johann Ketels. Obviously, the wood did not belong to the church, but was privately owned. Today's forest vegetation on the fjord slopes is assigned to the Volkspark . The Harnis Ziegelhof, a brick factory, had existed since 1574 . At the end of the 19th century, the old Harniss brickworks, a cement works and a small brewery were located near Harnis . In 1922/23 a free port was built near Harnis , the construction of which changed the Kielseng-Harnis Ballast Bridge area significantly. A new small port consisting of a separate free port basin was created on the outskirts of Harnis near Kielseng through dredging. The sand came to Solitude , where a new beach was created. The road rising from the Ballastbrücke road towards Kielseng was given the name "Harnis" in 1923. It got its name because it originally led from the Harniss brickworks to Kielseng as a footpath. The brick factory was in operation until 1931. During the Second World War , the small free port basin was converted into a submarine harbor (submarine base Flensburg). The industrial port is located on the western side of the street Harnis and on the eastern side of the street there are today commercial establishments as well as some residential buildings on the hillside. |

Harniskai Harnæskajen
|
The name "Harnis" refers to a "stony headland" (land nose or peninsula ); see. Harnis in this list. In 1921/22, today's Kaistraße was laid out on an area that had been landed since 1910. A year later, the street was named "Ballastkai", but the northern part of the street, which is located on the headland, was subsequently named Harniskai. But it wasn't until the 1980s that the wharf was officially renamed. The street area near the “Werftkontor” building complex and the adjacent HaGe silos to the north kept the name Balastkai. Some silos still belong to the Harniskai today . Just like the Silo Ballastkai 10, these are considered cultural monuments or are still in use today. The pointed area of the small peninsula near the Harniskai is now called the "Harniskai Peak". |

In 1972, however, the border between Flensburg and Harrislee was adjusted to the course of the western bypass, so that today the tangent forms the border over a long stretch and the entire Harrisleer bypass no longer belongs to Flensburg. According to the Flensburg entrance sign in the neighboring Steinkamp street, one could assume that this is still the case today. |

Heinz-Krey-Straße and Heinz-Krey-Hof as well as the built-up area of the Heinz-Krey-Lager to the south form optically a small quarter due to the frequented streets Fördestraße and Friedheim and the adjacent Osbektal . In 2017, this "Heinz Krey district" hit the local headlines. After some modern residential buildings had been erected on the local Fördestrasse in the former Heinz-Krey-Lager area, the residents of the Heinz-Krey-Hof had to find out that their connection to the Fördestrasse had been blocked for them by the client. The Flensburg city spokesman explained the right of way there : "The right has not expired through the sale of the property and must be taken over". The problem was not resolved in 2018. |

Hele moon | Street near Adelbylund which was named after the local parcel of Hele Mond. The word "Hele" is attested in Low German and Danish and means "full" or "whole". The moon is also called moon in Low German, “Månen” in Danish, so that the street name as a whole is Low German. The moon described by the name is therefore whole , as explained above . So the street was named after the full moon . - According to a legend , the man in the moon is by the way a wood thief who was once caught on a bright moonlit night on a Sunday. He is said to have denied his theft and declared: "If I have stolen this wood, I will sit in the moon until eternity." And so it happened that the wood thief has since then had to sit in the moon with his bundle of wood. |

Hestoft Hestetoften
|
The street name is also often spelled "Hesttoft". "Toft" means something like "field". In Flensburg there are other streets with the word Toft in their name, for example Munketoft. The Flenstoft farm was also the predecessor of the Duburg . “Hes-” could mean a personal name, perhaps “Hest” or “Hesi”. In Danish , “Hest” means “horse”; see also the etymology of English : horse . Hestoft therefore more likely means “horse paddock”. The name Hestoft is attested to the 15th century. The translated name “paddock” has also been handed down for the 18th century. |
