Heinrich Agatius Gottlob Tuch (born July 4, 1766 in Gera , Thuringia , † July 3, 1821 in Leipzig ) was a German singer ( bass ), composer and music publisher .

Life

Tuch was born the son of a dyer . He received musical lessons from the cantor of the Gera high school, Nathanael Gottfried Gruner .

His family lived temporarily in Sangerhausen , where he trained with the organist Johann Heinrich Rolle . When he returned to Gera, he became a student of Gruner again. From 1786 he studied theology and “beautiful sciences” in Leipzig and received composition lessons and lessons in harmony from Johann Friedrich Doles .

In 1788 his first collection of songs was published. From 1790 onwards he worked as a singer, music director and composer in various theaters. In 1795 he was hired as a bass player and actor at the Princely-Anhaltisch-Dessau Acting Society. In 1799 he founded the first Dessau music publishing house, in which he mainly published his own works. From 1816 a branch of his publishing house existed in Leipzig, where he also moved.
