Heinrich Anton Rudolph Brandis

Heinrich Anton Rudolph Brandis (born April 24, 1821 in Hamburg ; † January 11, 1875 there ) was a German lawyer .

Life

Brandis was the son of the Hamburg merchant Heinart Friedrich Rudolph Brandis (1782–1869) and his wife Elisabeth, née Buchheister (1797–1864). He initially worked as a scribe and was employed by the later Senator and Mayor of Hamburg , Nicolaus Ferdinand Haller . After he had further educated himself through private lessons, he began to study law in Göttingen in 1844 . There he was promoted to Dr. jur. PhD. On December 17, 1847, he was enrolled as a lawyer in Hamburg . In the last few years he remained in association with the later multiple mayor of Hamburg, Johann Georg Mönckeberg , until his death. He was also a member of the district court in 1864 . In 1869 he was elected lawyer for the authorities.

Brandis was a member of the Hamburg citizenship from 1859 to 1865 . At the same time he was a member of the Citizens Committee , which sent him from 1862 to 1865 to the Central Election Commission for the general elections. In 1862 Brandis was the first vice president of the township.

Brandis married Anna Helena Popert (* 1835) on April 24, 1856. They had two sons (Carl Brandis, head of the guardianship authority in Hamburg, and Gustav Brandis, lawyer) and two daughters.
