The Heinrich-Büssing-Haus in Wolfsburg - Nordsteimke is a museum that commemorates the work of the pioneer of truck and bus construction Heinrich Büssing (1843–1929). It is housed in the house where he was born, the former village smithy .

Building history

Heinrich Büssing learned the blacksmithing trade from his father in the house where he was born. After his journeyman's examination in 1859, he left his parents' house at the age of 16, to which he never returned. In the 20th century, the house with forge built by Büssing's father in 1842 was used as a farmhouse and residential building for a long time . In 1985, the " Förderkreis Heinrich Büssing Memorial Site" was founded in Nordsteimke . The initiative for this came from Maschinenfabrik Augsburg-Nürnberg MAN , which took over Büssing AG in 1971 . In 1988 the house was completely restored taking into account the preservation of monuments . The former village smithy was also restored and has been fully functional since then. It is still used occasionally for display purposes.
