Heinrich Balemann (* 1580 in Lübeck ; † December 14, 1645 ibid) was councilor of the Hanseatic city of Lübeck.

Life

Heinrich Balemann, son of Hinrich Balemann who made his will in 1602 and his wife Anna NN, studied law at the University of Rostock in 1598 . On May 22nd, 1606 he married Geseke Ritter (Ridder) the youngest daughter of the Lübeck merchant and trader Albert Ritter. In 1628 Heinrich was elected to the city council. He is the first Lübeck councilor of the Balemann family.

Heinrich also studied law from his sons in Rostock and became council secretary in Lübeck in 1639 and protonotary in 1649 ; he died in 1656. Albert (also Albrecht) studied theology in Rostock and in 1643 received a preaching position at the Marienkirche in Lübeck , where he became pastor in 1668; he died in 1672. His pastor portrait in St. Mary's Church was destroyed in a fire in 1942.

The grandson Heinrich Balemann (1643–1693), son of the protonotary Heinrich, also became Lübeck councilor. The great-grandson Heinrich Balemann and his son Heinrich Diedrich Balemann became mayors of Lübeck .
