Heinrich Baumann (engineer, 1871)

Heinrich Carl Baumann (born January 30, 1871 in Bretten , † October 17, 1949 in Konstanz ) was a German engineer, Reich Railway Director and university professor.

Life

He was the son of the tüncher Josef Baumann and his wife Katharina nee Rohrbacher. After attending grammar school in Karlsruhe, he began studying at the Technical University of Karlsruhe and became an engineer at the Technical Institute of Artillery in Siegburg . After successfully obtaining his engineering diploma and an internship from 1894 onwards, he joined the Grand Ducal Baden State Railways in Karlsruhe on October 1, 1897. There he initially worked in the technical service and in 1909 became the mechanical engineering department. Due to his diverse, nationally and internationally recognized scientific and technical work, he was appointed honorary professor at the Technical University of Karlsruhe. In addition, he was appointed a member of the Prussian Academy of Sciences in Berlin .

Heinrich Baumann married Emma, ​​née Blattner, on September 12, 1905. The two daughters Gertrud (* 1906) and Margret (* 1914) emerged from their marriage.
