Heinrich Borchert Lübsen

Heinrich Borchert Lübsen (born January 12, 1801 in Eckwarden , † September 20, 1864 in Altona ) was a German mathematician .

Life

After completing his military service, Lübsen became a teacher for Prince Peter von Oldenburg . He then studied mathematics with Gauß in Göttingen . In 1831 he went to Hamburg and became a teacher. He was considered a good teacher and textbook writer. He wrote the books between 1835 and 1858. Then he sold the rights to Friedrich Brandstetter in Leipzig.

Even decades after his death, his textbooks saw new editions.

Lübsen was unmarried. His legacy was a legacy for educational and charity purposes, which was administered by the city of Oldenburg until the First World War .
