Heinrich Brost

Heinrich "Hanke" Brost (born February 16, 1889 - † February 16, 1960 ) was a Swedish football player , coach and official. He played three caps for the Swedish national team between 1921 and 1928 .

Career

Brost played for IFK Malmö between 1917 and 1932 . In 1920 he made his debut for the club in the Svenska series , four years later he qualified with the club for the Allsvenskan as a new national league. In the season 1925/26 he rose with the team from the elite series, after two years they returned to the Allsvenskan after successes over Redbergslids IK . In the fall of 1931 he played his last competitive game for the club. In total, he played 171 league games for the club, in which he scored 94 goals. Of these, 49 goals were scored in 95 Allsvenskan games.

In 1921, the selection committee of Svenska Fotbollförbundet appointed Brost for the first time as a selection player in the Swedish national team , in the 1: 3 defeat against Austria in July of that year he made his debut for his colors. In 1926 he came on another assignment against Germany . He played his last international match in June 1928 against Norway , when he formed the attack line in the Nordic Football Championship in a 6-1 win alongside Sven Rydell , Harry Lundahl , Tore Keller and Knut Kroon .

After the end of his career, he was coach of IFK Malmö between 1937 and 1939, while he led the club, which had meanwhile slipped into the third division, back into the second division. Between 1935 and 1944 he was also on the board of the association.

Nothing is currently known about Brost's further life - especially away from the football field.
