Heinrich Bussmann (born January 6, 1896 in Lünen , † August 18, 1942 in Dachau concentration camp ) was a resistance fighter against National Socialism .

After training as a miner , he worked at the Victoria colliery in Lünen, and in the meantime also at the Waltrop colliery . At the age of 18 he joined the SPD in Lünen and was elected to the city council in 1923. From 1930 to 1932 he was a member of the provincial parliament of the province of Westphalia for the constituency of Lünen . He was chairman of the Lünen gas and water works.

After brief unemployment in 1928, he worked as a construction worker, but became unemployed again at the end of 1932. During his time as head of the city council, he opposed the National Socialists and was then imprisoned in various concentration camps without judgment. He died on August 18, 1942 from abuse and torture.

Since 1996, the SPD has awarded the city of Lünen the Heinrich Bussmann Prize annually to deserving personalities. The Heinrich Bussmann School in Lünen is named after him.
