Heinrich Carl Johann Manger (born December 27, 1833 in Odessa , † after 1896) was a German sculptor .

Life

Heinrich Manger was the son of Heinrich August Manger of German descent and Anna Franz . From 1848 to 1850 he was a student at the Royal Art and Trade School in Breslau and in 1851 at the Academy in Dresden , but was forced by the circumstances to become a wood cutter . As such, he made some sheets based on models by Ludwig Richter and Julius Schnorr von Carolsfeld .

After working as a photographer , sculptor and portrait painter in the USA from 1859 to 1869 , he returned and continued his education in sculpture at the Academy in Berlin under Albert Wolff .
