Heinrich Güldig

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Heinrich Güldig (born December 22, 1820 in Stuttgart , † July 8, 1893 in Großgartach ) was the publisher of the Heilbronner Zeitung Neckar-Dampfschiff at the time of the revolution of 1848/49 . He later published other newspapers. He bequeathed his house and his property to the community of Großgartach, where he had his retirement home and where a street is named after him today.

Life

Güldig took over the Neckar steamship in the revolutionary year of 1848 and thus became the “mouthpiece of the democratic left”. After the failure of the revolution he was imprisoned at Hohenasperg fortress for a while. He continued to run a printing company in Heilbronn, which in addition to the successor sheets of the Neckar steam ship, the Neue Neckar newspaper from Heilbronn (1851–1855) and the Heilbronner Zeitung (from 1879), including the Heilbronner Anzeiger für Handel und Verkehr and the Wochenblatt for published the agricultural district associations . He moved into his retirement home in Nordheimer Strasse on the outskirts of Großgartach, which is now part of Leingarten . The house built for him there had a striking imitation slate cladding made of square sheet metal, which is why it was also known as the tin house . He was married twice and probably died childless. He bequeathed his retirement home and his property to the community of Großgartach. In his will he determined that his house should be used for a doctor to settle in Großgartach. When a doctor was actually able to settle after the First World War, however, he moved his practice and residence to the center of the village. The donated assets fell victim to the inflation of the 1920s. The tin house was demolished around 1970 and the Protestant parish hall is located in its place today. Today a street in Leingarten is named after the founder.
