Corpus Reformatorum ( Corp. Ref., Cor. Ref., CR, CR ) (German Collection of Reformers , Halle (Saale) , 1834 ff.) Is the serial title of an important collection of writings by Protestant reformers of the 16th century. The series with a total of 101 volumes contains reprints of the collected works of Johannes Calvin , Philipp Melanchthon and Ulrich Zwingli , three of the leading Protestant reformers. The texts of the CR are printed in Latin , French or German .

A collection of Catholic writings from the 16th century, intended as a counterpart to the CR, was started by Professor Joseph Greving (1868-1919) from the University of Bonn . The project was presented in 1915 in the magazine Theologische Revue as a plan for a Corpus Catholicorum .

history

The Corpus Reformatorum project was - based on the initiative of the German scientist and theologian Karl Gottlieb Bretschneider - in planning since shortly after 1827. From 1834 until his death in 1848 Bretschneider was also the responsible editor.
