Heinrich Georg Dendl (* 1854 in Wasserburg am Inn , † 1925 in Rosenheim ) was a German portrait, landscape and still life painter.

Determined to be a shoemaker by his parents, Heinrich Dendl learned the shoemaker's trade from the shoemaker Franz Xaver Ernst in Wasserburg am Inn. Ernst recognized the artistic talent of his apprentice and promoted it. Thanks to the support of his teacher and that of the Wasserburg brewery owner Andreas Ponschab, Dendl was able to study at the Royal Academy of Arts in Munich since October 7, 1873 . At the exhibition of theses in 1877 he was awarded a bronze medal.

After completing his studies, he initially worked in Wasserburg am Inn and recommended himself to the Regensburg magistrate as a connoisseur of the then new mineral painting based on the technique of Adolf Wilhelm Keim . The Regensburg city fathers were so convinced of the possibility to create with this technique from the air indestructible murals that Dendl 1884 was commissioned in Regensburg the old David and Goliath image on the facade of the so-called Goliath house to renew. However, the artistic result of his work was not convincing in Regensburg and was replaced in August 1900 by the new design by the painter Franz Rinner from Munich, which is still shown today .

In 1879 he painted the portrait of Ludwig II of Bavaria , in 1878 the portraits of the Palmano couple and in 1879 the Gassner couple. In 1890 he renewed the large fresco on the bridge gate in Wasserburg am Inn.

Some of his works can be found in the municipal museum of Wasserburg am Inn.
