Heinrich Georg Drescher (born July 4, 1847 in Leipzig ; † 1925 there ) was a German draftsman and painter .

Heinrich Georg Drescher was the second son of the Police Council Karl Heinrich Drescher. He learned the trade of a businessman and worked as an authorized signatory in the steam factory for essential oils and essences in the Waldstrasse in Leipzig.

He had a talent for drawing and developed himself in this area as an autodidact . His great interest in his hometown Leipzig led him to capture Leipzig and its wider surroundings in drawings and watercolors. In the course of his life he filled 168 sketchbooks, which also contained motifs from more distant travel destinations.

He provided almost every sheet with the exact date of creation. Since Leipzig underwent major changes in its development into a capitalist city in the last three decades of the 19th century, Drescher's drawings provide important vivid evidence for the development of the city.

Drescher was a long-time member of the " Association for the History of Leipzig " and was on its board from 1886 to 1889. In 1923, at the age of seventy-six, he gave all of his sketchbooks to the Leipzig City History Museum . This has an unusual treasure for the history of the city. A selection of drawings and watercolors is contained in the art print album Leipzig published around the turn of the century in 1989 .
