Heinrich Gerstbach

Heinrich "Heinz" Gerstbach (born January 17, 1941 in Vienna ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ).

After attending primary school, Gerstbach graduated from the humanistic grammar school and graduated from the BG Vienna XIII in 1959. He then studied electrical engineering at the Technical University of Vienna and graduated in 1970 with the academic degree Dipl.-Ing. from. From July 1975, Gerstbach was employed as a technical consultant and federal civil servant in the Austrian Patent Office , and in July 1988 he was appointed court advisor. In 1990 Gerstbach left the service of the patent office when he was elected district chairman of Vienna- Hietzing . His father Josef Gerstbach had already held this position almost thirty years earlier .

Heinz Gerstbach began his political career in November 1981 as a district councilor of the ÖVP in Hietzing. He then acted as club chairman of the ÖVP district councils between 1987 and 1990 and as district chairman from February 7, 1990 to July 8, 2013. With these 23 years in office, Gerstbach was one of the longest serving district chiefs in Vienna.
