Heinrich Graepel

Heinrich Graepel (born May 9, 1951 in Martfeld ) is a German agricultural scientist and university professor for phytopathology and entomology . As an internationally committed crop protection specialist, he is also connected to the German-Romanian training center for agriculture in Voijteg . The Agricultural and Veterinary University of Banat (USAB-TM) awarded him an honorary doctorate for his decades of research and teaching in Romania.

biography

After his school days in Martfeld, Graepel completed an agricultural apprenticeship in Hölingen and attended the agricultural vocational school. He then started his studies at the Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences with a degree as an engineer for agriculture (1972). He studied at the Justus Liebig University in Gießen , where he graduated in 1977 with a degree in agricultural engineering. In the following time as an assistant at the Institute for Phytomedicine and Applied Entomology, he worked on his dissertation: Investigations on the economic damage threshold of grain aphids and the effect of some insecticides on natural aphid enemies , with which he was awarded a Dr. agr. in Giessen.

The studies were followed by activities at Rhône-Poulenc Agro as regional technical manager and as head of crop protection development as well as project management in Germany and neighboring Eastern European countries (1980–1999). Gräpel then moved to Bayer CropScience in Germany as head of field research (2000–2008).

Since 2009, Gräpel has been a consultant to various organizations in the field of agricultural testing and training for test operators for crop protection, partly together with Karl Fritz Lauer and Ciprian George Fora . Gräpel has been visiting professor at the USAB-TM in Timisoara since 1991 and at the Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences since 2011. The USAB-TM named him Dr. hc

Gräpel lives in Martfeld and is civically involved in the museum association, in particular for the maintenance of the Fehsenfeldsch mill.
