German Society for General and Applied Entomology
The German Society for General and Applied Entomology (DGaaE) is a scientific specialist society . It was created in 1976 through the merger of the two traditional associations “German Entomological Society” (DEG) and “German Society for Applied Entomology” (DGaE, founded in 1913).
The DGaaE represents all German entomologists , corresponds to other regional or national entomological specialist societies and unites all entomologists who are professionally active in research and practice. The society organizes an entomologist conference every two years, the lectures and posters of which are published in the journal Mitteilungen der DGaaE . In addition, three to four issues of the DGaaE-Nachrichten appear annually for mutual information of the members. The Journal of Applied Entomology (founded in 1914 by Karl Leopold Escherich as a journal for applied entomology ) has been an official publication of the DGaaE since 2006 .
The DGaaE awards various prizes for the promotion or appreciation of scientific work.
