Heinrich Hornig

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Heinrich Hornig (born October 12, 1876 in Schlotfeld- Oesau, † October 8, 1958 in Itzehoe ) was a German writer who wrote mainly in Low German .

Hornig attended school in Schlotfeld, spent two years in the preparation institute in Barmstedt and attended the teachers' seminar in Uetersen for three years before he became a teacher. He initially worked in Ostholstein and then in Itzehoe until his retirement.

His work is controversial, since during the time of the National Socialist regime he repeatedly glorified himself in literary terms on current political events. In 2002 the Heinrich-Hornig-Straße in Itzehoe, which was named after him in the 1960s, was renamed Aaron-Rieder-Straße .
