Heinrich I. von Praunheim

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Heinrich I von Praunheim (called 1194-1223) from the family of the Knights von Praunheim was from 1216 the third imperial school of the imperial city of Frankfurt am Main .

origin

His father was Wolfram I. von Praunheim , the first Reichsschultheiß of Frankfurt, who died before 1207, his mother Liutgard, was probably a daughter of Kuno I. von Hagen-Münzenberg . She died before 1193 and the widower married again, a "Pauline" whose family of origin is unknown. From this second marriage came Johannes von Praunheim , the second Reichsschultheiß of Frankfurt.

politics

In 1194 Heinrich I is named as aldermen of the city of Frankfurt. In the Staufer-Welf throne dispute , John stood on the side of Philip of Swabia , while Heinrich I and his maternal relatives from the House of Hagen-Münzenberg stood on the side of King Otto IV . As a result, Philipp von Schwaben did not make the older stepbrother Heinrich, but the younger Johannes in 1207, succeeding his father, as the second imperial school of Frankfurt.

It was not until 1216 that there was a political upheaval: Johannes died or suffered a serious political defeat. The Reichsschultheissenamt passed to Heinrich I and the trace of Johannes is lost. In 1220, Emperor Friedrich II finally rescinded the office of Reichsvogte in Frankfurt and transferred the duties and income from it to the Reichsschultheissen Heinrich I. Heinrich was in office until at least 1223. He also worked as a judge at the court of Friedrich II, if he was in the Palatinate Gelnhausen stayed.

family

Heinrich I was married to Adelheid von Echzell , a family that belonged to the Löwen von Steinfurth , Burgmann of the Burgmannschaft of the Reichsburg Friedberg . As the son-in-law of a castle man, Heinrich I could now become the castle man of the Reichsburg Friedberg himself. From this marriage there were at least 7 sons:

  • Heinrich II. Von Praunheim, named from 1225, † April 1256, progenitor of the Praunheim-Wolfkehlen line
  • Reichwein I., mentioned: 1230–1274
  • Konrad, called: 1230–1251, dean of St. Bartholomew's monastery in Frankfurt am Main
  • Wolfram II. (Named from 1242; † 1273/74), mayor of Frankfurt am Main 1248–1263 and 1269–1273, progenitor of the line of the Erbschultheißen
  • Helwig, called 1243–1258, († before 1264)
  • Rudolf, called 1254–1273, progenitor of the Praunheim-Sachsenhausen line
  • Gottschalk I., called: 1254, 1273

Individual evidence

  1. Friese, p. 36f, derives this from ownership traditions in the family, since goods that were in the hands of the Hagen-Münzenberg family in the 12th century are later owned by the von Praunheim family.
