Darrell Antwonne Arthur (born March 25, 1988 in Dallas , Texas ) is an American basketball player who was last active with the Denver Nuggets in the NBA .

Career

High school

Arthur won the Texas 4A championship with South Oak Cliff High School in 2005 and 2006 and was named MVP of the final tournament in both years . But since the school manipulated the grades of some players so that they could continue to compete for the team, these titles were later revoked. In 2006 Arthur was named a McDonald's All-American .

college

From 2006 to 2008 Arthur ran for the Kansas Jayhawks , the University of Kansas team , in college basketball . After his first season he was elected to the Big 12 All-Freshman Team . In 2008 he celebrated the NCAA Championship with the Jayhawks by winning the NCAA Division I Basketball Championship .

NBA

In the 2008 NBA draft , the New Orleans Hornets selected him in 27th place. However, it was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers that same day . After two more trades, first to Houston , he ended up with the Memphis Grizzlies .

In his first NBA season he played with his cousin Quinton Ross for Memphis. In a total of 76 games he scored an average of 5.6 points and 4.5 rebounds in 19.3 minutes. In his second season he was only used in 32 games due to an injury. He missed the 2011/12 season completely due to a torn ligament.

For the 2013/14 season he was transferred from the Grizzlies to the Denver Nuggets . In return, center Kosta Koufos moved to Memphis.
