Heinrich II. (Ebrach)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Heinrich II. († May 6, 1349 in Ebrach ) was abbot of the Cistercian monastery in Ebrach from 1344 to 1349 .

Life

Little is known about the life of Abbot Heinrich II. He was born in the second half of the 13th or first half of the 14th century. The exact place of birth is unknown, but a village in Franconia is likely, as Heinrich entered the Steigerwaldkloster Ebrach early. The parents of the future abbot are not mentioned in the sources, and any siblings are unknown.

After the death of Abbot Albert von Anfeld in 1344, the monks elected Heinrich as the eighteenth abbot of Ebrach, and he took the name Heinrich II. The new prelate quickly began to increase the monastery property. So he acquired several goods for the abbey. Five years after being elected abbot, Heinrich II died on May 6, 1349. A few days later he was buried in the monastery church in Ebrach.
