Albert von Anfeld

Albert von Anfeld (also Albert I ; † August 13, 1344 in Ebrach ) was abbot of the Cistercian monastery in Ebrach from 1328 to 1344 .

Life

Albert von Anfeld was born in the second half of the 13th century. Eventually came the later abbot from today in Middle Franconia , located Anfelden , where his family had its headquarters. The names of the parents are not mentioned in the sources, nor are any siblings mentioned. After Friedrich von Leuchtenberg was appointed bishop of Eichstätt, Albert was elected the seventeenth abbot of Ebrach.

After his election, Albert I began to increase goods for the Cistercian monastery and acquired several farms in the area. At the same time the abbey received rights from Pope John XXII. granted. Henceforth the monastery was allowed to collect half of all tithes from the German Cistercian monasteries. On August 13, 1344 Abbot Albert von Anfeld died after sixteen years of reign and was buried in the monastery church.
