Friedrich III. von Leuchtenberg († March 27, 1329 at Holnstein Castle near Berching ) was Prince-Bishop of Eichstätt from 1328 to 1329.

Friedrich III. came from the dynasty of the Landgraves von Leuchtenberg . The name-giving headquarters in Leuchtenberg is today in the district of Neustadt an der Waldnaab in the Upper Palatinate . Friedrich III. was the son of Friedrich II and Elisabeth, a daughter of Count Rapoto II von Ortenburg .
Life
Friedrich was first abbot of the Ebrach monastery and was taken over by Pope Johannes XXII. appointed the new bishop of Eichstätt. After his return from the curia , Eichstatt citizens and clergy prevented the bishop's entry. He was therefore forced to choose Holnstein Castle near Berching as his stay .
He died in the castle and was buried in the crypt of the Leuchtenbergers in the Waldsassen monastery church . The tombstone, which no longer exists, was described by Kaspar Brusch and Wiguleus Hund in the 16th century .
