Marquard I von Hagel († February 8, 1324 ) was Prince-Bishop of Eichstätt from 1322 to 1324.

Marquard I. came from the Swabian noble family von Hagel, a noble family that had emerged from a branch of the von Hürnheim family . His mother was born Speth von Faimingen (see also list of Swabian noble families / S ).

Life

Marquard I. von Hagel studied at the University of Bologna and has been attested as a canon in Eichstätt since 1296 . He founded the Collegiate Foundation of Our Lady in Eichstätt . Since 1316 he held the office of administrator. Through various measures, such as the sale of the last possessions in Tyrol or a clarification of the influence of the Counts of Oettingen in the city of Herrieden , which he satisfied with a severance payment through Ludwig the Bavarian , he contributed to the formation of the bishopric . He also had the first fief book drawn up . It condensed into a more closed territory. He was "less than 60 years old" and was buried in the choir of the collegiate church he founded.
