Hildebrand of Carrots

Hildebrand von Möhren († March 26, 1279 ) was Prince-Bishop of Eichstätt from 1261 to 1279.

Life

Hildebrand came from the Swabian Gender those of carrots , named after the district of carrots from Treuchtlingen , now located in the Middle Franconian district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen . The von Möhren were both noble-free as well as ministerial , Hildebrand belongs to the branch of the noble-free. Hildebrand von Möhren is attested in 1239 as Eichstatter canon and archdeacon . He started promoting the mendicant orders as an elect . So he allowed the Dominicans of Regensburg to preach in the diocese. He promoted the monastery Schönthal the Augustinians and the Augustinian Abbey Nuremberg with the granting of indulgences . With another indulgence, he also supported the building of the Franciscan monastery in Nuremberg . The Franciscan monastery in Ingolstadt and the Dominican monastery in Eichstätt received further benefits . He was buried in the Willibald Choir of Eichstätter Cathedral .
