Henry II of Raron

Heinrich II. Von Raron († before October 14, 1274 ) was Bishop of Sitten from 1273 to 1274 .

Life

Heinrich came from the wealthy family of the Barons von Raron in Valais . He was the son of Baron Johannes von Raron. The Sion bishop Heinrich I von Raron was his uncle. Heinrich was canon in 1256 and sacristan of the cathedral chapter of Sion in 1259 . Together with his brother Amadeus, he held the seat of morality. In 1265 he excommunicated his cousin Hugo, with whom he had a dispute over the Vitztum. Heinrich was elected bishop of Sitten in 1273, but died before his ordination as bishop, which was scheduled for October 14, 1274.
