Heinrich Keller (politician)

Heinrich Keller (born March 17, 1940 in Vienna ) is a former Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and lawyer. In 1979 he was a member of the Federal Council and from 1986 to 1988 a member of the Austrian National Council .

education and profession

Keller attended elementary school in Vienna- Döbling between 1946 and 1950 and the Döbling secondary school from 1950 to 1958. He then studied from 1958 to 1963 law at the University of Vienna and received his doctorate in 1963 for Dr. iur. He then worked from 1963 to 1968 as a consultant to the Chamber for Workers and Salaried Employees for Vienna and was a trainee judge from 1965 to 1968. He then worked as a judge and public prosecutor between 1968 and 1979 and from 1970 to 1977 took over the agendas of secretary and press officer of the Federal Minister of Justice Christian Broda . He was secretary general of the ORF between 1977 and 1979 and then worked from 1979 to 1983 as a trainee lawyer. In 1983 he became self-employed as a lawyer and was the central secretary of the SPÖ from 1986 to 1988.

politics

Keller joined the SPÖ in 1962 and was Deputy Chairman of the Justice Working Group of the Association of Socialist Jurists of Austria from 1966 to 1977, of which he was also a member of the board between 1970 and 1977. In 1974 he was co-opted into the presidium of the Austrian Tenants' Association, and in 1975 he was elected to the board. He held the office of Vice President from 1982 and was President of the Austrian Tenants' Association from 1985 to 1989. He was also a member of the ORF Board of Trustees. He represented the SPÖ in the Federal Council from May 29, 1979 to October 22, and was a member of the National Council from December 17, 1986 to November 23, 1988. In 1988, Keller had to resign from his political offices because he allegedly had not paid tax on officials 'compensation from the tenants' association. These allegations later turned out to be false.

Keller married the ORF journalist Trautl Brandstaller in 1979 , and his daughter was born in 1981.
