Heinrich Kraus (born November 12, 1899 in Böhmisch Aicha ; † August 26, 1966 in Munich ) was an academic painter and copyist.

Heirich Kraus was a portrait and landscape painter. He painted u. a. 1939 Privy Councilor Dr. jur. Ludwig Strecker (Schott Mainz publishing house), 1947 Thomas Wimmer (first Lord Mayor of Munich after the Second World War). Patrons and galleries acquired a. a. Pictures of him, many of which were shown at exhibitions at home and abroad. "La Revue Moderne - des Arts et de la Vie" Paris 1936.

After attending the arts and crafts school in Gablonz, Heinrich Kraus went to the art academy in Prague with Professor Krattner, in order to move to Munich after graduation in 1925. Represented in exhibitions during the Third Reich a. a.

  • 1936 "Great Munich Art Exhibition" in the Neue Pinakothek with the oil painting "The Jeschkengebirge".
  • 1938 "Munich Art Exhibition" in the Maximilianeum with the oil painting "Fräulein Luise D."
  • 1939 "Munich Art Exhibition" in the Maximilianeum with the oil painting "H. Hirt"
  • 1940 "Munich Art Exhibition" in the Maximilianeum with the oil painting "Girls from Egerland"

In addition to the numerous portraits, Heinrich Kraus was also a copyist of pictures. He has copied Titian's "Madonna with the Christ Child", Bartolomé Esteban Murillo " Grape and Melon Eaters ", van Dyck "Little Head of the Child", Rubens "Helene Fourment in a Bridal Dress" and works by Arnold Böcklin .

Due to an increasing eye ailment, Heinrich Kraus committed suicide on August 26, 1966 in his Schwabing studio at Gieselastraße 29 / III, Munich.
