Heinrich Landis (entrepreneur, 1879)

Heinrich Landis junior (born April 11, 1879 in Richterswil ; † January 17, 1922 in Zuoz ) was a Swiss electrical engineer .

The son of the politician Heinrich Landis and the raisin, b. Honegger, attended the canton school in Zurich , studied electrical engineering at the Polytechnic in Zurich and at the Technical University of Charlottenburg and worked for several years as an electrical engineer in the Oerlikon machine factory .

He married Sara Fierz, the daughter of the businessman Karl Fierz.

In 1903 he became a partner in the electricity meter factory Theiler & Co. in Zug, which he took over in 1904 and from 1905 led to great success with his college friend Karl Heinrich Gyr under the name Landis + Gyr . His school colleague Fritz Schmuziger also worked here from 1911 . From 1914, after the company was converted into a stock corporation, he was Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors, but two years later retired from management for health reasons. He was also on the board of directors at the Baar and Uznaberg spinning mills.
