Heinrich Schiffers (geographer)

Heinrich Schiffers (born September 28, 1901 in Aachen , † December 20, 1982 in Cologne ) was a German geographer and Africa explorer .

Live and act

Schiffers studied geography and area studies, specializing in particular in Africa and desert research. He achieved the degree of Doctor of Philosophy.

Schiffers published a large number of scientific writings on the discovery and exploration of the black continent and created the most extensive standard work to date in German on the Sahara . His most famous publications include:
