Heinrich Schmelz

Heinrich Schmelz (born February 24, 1930 in Vienna ) is a former Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and federal civil servant. In 1988, Schmelz was a member of the Austrian National Council .

Schmelz attended grammar school after primary school and graduated in 1948. He was a student trainee at the Vienna University of Technology at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture and graduated in 1956 with a degree in engineering. for civil engineering. In 1976, Schmelz received his doctorate in Dr. Before that, he had entered the service of the Federal Ministry for Trade and Reconstruction in 1956 , was a consultant in the departments for bridge construction, road maintenance and road construction and from 1966 secretary to the Federal Minister for Building and Technology Vinzenz Kotzina . In 1968 he took over the management of the road reassessment department, and in 1969 he was in charge of the road research and traffic engineering department. He participated in the drafting of the Federal Roads Act in 1971, and from 1974 was head of the budget department of the Federal Road Administration. In 1977 he was appointed Section Head and Head of the Federal Building Construction Section. He was also involved as a staff representative and trade unionist and from 1986 was district party chairman of the ÖVP Wien- Penzing . Schmelz represented the ÖVP in the National Council between April 15, 1988 and May 10, 1988 . On June 22, 1990, Dipl.-Ing. Dr. Heinrich Schmelz was awarded the title of Honorary Senator by the University of Veterinary Medicine, Vienna .
