Heinrich Schroth (born November 3, 1902 in Ohligs , Solingen district , † September 13, 1957 in Solingen ) was a German politician of the SPD .

Heinrich Schroth was a member of the Socialist Workers 'Youth and the Socialist Workers' Party of Germany until 1933 . In September 1933 he was arrested again and taken to the Kemna concentration camp . There he was ill-treated and suffered serious health problems from which he never recovered. In a “report on the Kemna concentration camp near Wuppertal” Schroth later wrote of beatings with rods and carbines, burns with cigars and other torture methods. He himself lost consciousness several times during interrogation. In May 1934 he was sentenced to one year and seven months in prison by the first criminal division of the Hamm Higher Regional Court for “preparation for high treason”. In April 1935 he was released from prison.

After the re-establishment of the SPD after the Second World War , Schroth became a member in 1945. He worked as district chairman of the SPD and was a councilor for the city of Solingen from 1945. He was particularly interested in education policy. As a member of the school committee, he made great contributions to the reconstruction and reconstruction of schools. In addition, he was from July 13, 1954 until his death on September 13, 1957 directly elected member of the 3rd state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia for the constituency 051 Solingen-Altstadt-Höhscheid. Among other things, he was a member of the Audit Committee, which he chaired in 1956.

In August 1953, Schroth and a Gelsenkirchen SPD politician were accused by Chancellor Konrad Adenauer in the federal election campaign of having accepted 10,000 marks from the SED . Schroth turned on the Bonn public prosecutor's office. In court, Adenauer refused to disclose his informants, but later withdrew his allegations. Despite this accusation, Schroth was later elected to the state parliament.

Heinrich Schroth died on September 13, 1957 at the age of only 54. He was buried in the city cemetery in Gräfrath with great public participation . The funeral speeches were given by Mayor Karl Haberland and State Parliament President Josef Gockeln .

A stumbling block was laid in front of his house at Finkenstrasse 5 in Solingen .
