Heinrich Screta

Heinrich Screta , also Heinrich Screta von Schotnau and Zavorziz, (born October 15, 1637 in Schaffhausen , Switzerland; † November 3, 1689 ibid) was a Swiss doctor , personal physician and member of the academy of scholars " Leopoldina ."

Career

Heinrich Screta von Schotnau and Zavorziz was the son of Johannes Screta from Prague, who immigrated to Schaffhausen and worked as a city doctor. Johannes Screta came from an old Bohemian noble family. Heinrich Screta's mother was Rosina Lucius. Heinrich Screta attended school in Schaffhausen and then did an apprenticeship as a pharmacist in his parents' pharmacy. He took over this pharmacy in 1661. Between 1670 and 1672 Screta studied medicine in Heidelberg and Basel and was awarded a doctorate in medicine. He then became the city physician of Schaffhausen. Screta published on typhus. He may also be the author of weather observations. Heinrich Screta von Schotnau and Zavorviz was personal physician at various farms.

On May 6, 1682 Heinrich Screta von Schotnau and Zavorziz with the academic surname NICANDER was accepted as a member ( matriculation no. 101 ) in the Leopoldina .
