Heinrich Siegmund Blanckertz
Heinrich Siegmund Blanckertz (born June 3, 1823 in Jüchen ; † August 7, 1908 in Berlin ) was a German entrepreneur. He founded the German steel spring industry.
Blanckertz had originally learned to build looms. In 1849 he opened the Heintze & Blanckertz company in Berlin for the production of office equipment. He made his first attempts to make steel nibs. After his partner Heintze left the company, he only produced such steel springs.
Until 1881 he was the only manufacturer of these writing implements in Germany and achieved world fame with the so-called "Bremer Börsenfeder". His son Rudolf (1862–1935) continued his father's work. The family's grave is located in the St. Marien and St. Nikolai Cemetery I in the Berlin district of Prenzlauer Berg . His daughter Johanna (1860–1940) married the Berlin ENT doctor and university professor Arthur Hartmann .
