Heinrich Steiger (entrepreneur)

Heinrich Steiger (born November 17, 1776 in Hedingen , † April 16, 1842 in Herisau ; resident in Flawil ) was a Swiss textile entrepreneur from the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden .

Life

Heinrich Steiger was a son of Johannes Steiger, master blacksmith , and Susanne Steiger. In 1797 he married Anna Maria Stricker, daughter of Johann Jakob Stricker. From 1799 he was a broker (broker) for Mousselinewaren , later an embroidery manufacturer . In 1824, Steiger took up old spa projects, presumably because of business difficulties, and bought the healing springs on Herisau Moosberg. His newly built, spacious spa facility became internationally famous as Heinrichsbad from 1826. In 1839, Steiger sold the system.
