Heinrich Xaver winner
Heinrich Xaver Sieger (* December 25, 1811 Verlautenheide ; † July 2, 1901 ) was a German manufacturer, entrepreneur and owner of the Kurkölnische Landesburg Zülpich .
Life
Heinrich Xaver Sieger married Margaretha Catharina Wachendorff (1816–1891) in Zülpich in 1847 , whose parents were the owners of the Kurkölnische Landesburg Zülpich . After he came into the possession of the castle through this connection, he built a schnapps distillery there, which existed until 1979 and produced the brands Sieger-Korn and Alter Sieger-Korn , which are still sold today.
In 1873 he and two relatives of his wife, Eberhard and Theodor Wachendorff, founded the Zülpicher Papier-Fabrik Actiengesellschaft , which was supposed to produce paper and cardboard from the straw residues from the Sieger distillery. This company still exists today as one of the largest employers in Zülpich and is part of the Smurfit Kappa Group .
