Ludwig Sieger (born September 27, 1857 in Zülpich ; † November 15, 1952 at Gladbach Castle ) was a Prussian general of the artillery .

Life

Sieger was born as the eighth of nine children of the factory owner Heinrich Xaver Sieger . He outlived all of the siblings. On June 23, 1884 he married Anna Wachendorff in Bonn and had three children with her from 1885 to 1892. Elfriede, the second child, married the officer Rudolf Schniewindt on May 7, 1912 .

After high school and two semesters at the Institute of Technology (Berlin) Charlottenburg winner came on 1 August 1878 as an officer cadet in the Westphalian Foot Artillery Regiment. 7 and was here on February 14 in 1880 second lieutenant promoted. In 1905 he was promoted to lieutenant colonel and appointed commander of the 1st Rhenish field artillery regiment "von Holtzendorff" No. 8 .

Prussian War Ministry

In 1906 he returned to the War Ministry as head of department . In 1907 he was promoted to colonel . In 1910 he was with the perception of the company's Präses of artillery Examination Board commissioned. After he was promoted to major general, he was permanently appointed to that position. In February 1914 he was promoted to lieutenant general.

First World War

At the beginning of July he left Flanders and his corps was placed under the 18th Army . With this he was pushed back to the Siegfried position at the beginning of September . His achievements prompted the Army High Command (AOK) 18 to propose the general, with the approval of Crown Prince Rupprecht of Bavaria, to be awarded the oak leaves for the Pour le Mérite, which he received from AKO on November 3, 1918.

Weimar Republic

After the demobilization of the XVIII. Reserve Corps Sieger returned to his peacetime position as President of the Artillery Examination Commission on January 3, 1919. On January 30th he was put up for disposition in approval of his resignation . With seniority from this day he received the on September 16, 1919 Character as General of Artillery.
