history
The division was formed on December 31, 1914 specifically for use in the mountainous terrain of the Vosges and was mobile from January 20, 1915. The large association was on the Western Front in Upper Alsace from February 1915 to July 1916 , interrupted by a brief deployment in June 1915 on the Eastern Front in Poland. From late July to August 1916 she fought in the Battle of the Somme . From October 1916 she was involved in the war against Romania . In October 1917 she came again to the Western Front in Flanders . In 1918 she was u. a. involved in the 1918 spring offensive . The allied intelligence class classified the association as first class.
