The 2nd Cavalry Division was a large unit of the Prussian Army that existed for the duration of the mobilization on the occasion of the Sardinian War in 1859, the German War in 1866, the War against France in 1870/71 and the First World War .

Battle calendar
The division was formed at the beginning of the First World War as part of mobilization and was initially deployed on the Western Front. At the beginning of November 1914 it was relocated to the Eastern Front . It remained there until the end of 1916, when it was moved to the west to secure the Belgian-Dutch border and returned to the eastern front in mid-September 1917. Here she was also in action after the peace of Brest-Litovsk and took part in the fighting in support of Ukraine . The evacuation of the occupied territories there was only completed after the end of the war in March 1919.
