The 221st Division was a major unit of the Prussian army within the German Army in the First World War .

The division was formed on September 22, 1916 on the Western Front and was in service there until the end of the First World War. After the end of the war, the occupied territory was evacuated, the march back home and demobilization and eventual dissolution there.

  • 0February 1 to March 20 - Trench warfare in Artois and deployment to the Great Battle of France
  • March 21 to April 6 - Great battle in France
  • 0April 7th to July 23rd - Fights between Arras and Albert
  • July 24-27 - Fights on the Ancre , Somme and Avre
  • July 28th to August 7th - fighting on the Avre and Matz
  • 0August 9-10 - Defensive battle between Somme and Avre
  • August 10th to September 3rd - defensive battle between the Somme and Oise
  • 0September 4 to 18 - fighting in front of the Siegfried Front
  • September 19 to October 9 - Defensive battle between Cambrai and St. Quentin
  • October 10th to November 4th - fights in front of and in the Hermann position
  • 05th to 11th November - fighting in retreat in front of the Antwerp - Meuse position
  • from November 12th - evacuation of the occupied territory and march home
