founding

The division was made up of garrisons from IX. and X. Corps formed. Over 75% of the division consisted of volunteers , reservists and officers of the Landwehr . The writer Werner Beumelburg would later coined the term children's regiments. In his books, he referred to the new regiments deployed in Flanders, consisting of inexperienced volunteers, and whose crews he had also belonged to at the time, as children's regiments because of the age of their soldiers . Since the members of the Reserve Infantry Regiment No. 215 came from Lübeck - Katharineum , Johanneum , teacher seminar , ... - people later also spoke of the Lübeck Children's Regiment .
