89th Division (German Empire)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 89th Infantry Division was a major unit of the Prussian army in the First World War .

history

The large association was formed in August 1915 from the "Westernhagen" division and initially formed the Thorner Corps together with the 87th Infantry Division . The division was used exclusively on the Eastern Front and in Romania and was viewed by American sources as mediocre attack and, on the whole, fourth-rate.
