Munții Perșani in Romania

The Perșani Mountains (German also Geisterwald , Rum. Munții Perșani ) is a small mountain range west of Brașov in Romania . It is counted among the Eastern Carpathians . However, its higher southern section is actually an extension of the Southern Carpathians .

The mountains separate the Transylvanian Basin in the west from the Kronstadt Basin ( Depresiunea Brașovului ) in the east, which essentially corresponds to the historical Burzenland .

The Romanian name is derived from the village of Perșani , the German from the village of Apața (dt. Spirit ).

The main ridge runs in a north-south direction and has a length of approx. 60 km. It is broken through by the Olt in the Defileul Racoş bottleneck . The highest peak is the Vârful Cetății with 1104  m , in the northern part of the Vârful Dugău with 1011  m .
