The 2nd Landwehr Division was a major unit of the Bavarian army in the First World War .

history

The division was set up on December 31, 1916 and initially used on the Eastern Front in the Baltic States . Up until the peace treaty of Brest-Litovsk , the large association fought on the Daugava and was then used as an occupation force in Latvia and Estonia . In October 1918 the division was moved to the western front and used there to secure Lorraine . After the armistice in Compiègne and the return home, the large association was initially demobilized and dissolved in 1919.

It was classified as third class by the Allied Enlightenment .

  • February 18 to March 4 --- Fighting for the liberation of Livonia and Estonia
  • March 5 to October 10 --- Occupation of Livonia and Estonia as a German police force
  • October 13 to November 11 --- Trench warfare in Lorraine
  • November 12th to December 4th --- Evacuation of the occupied territory and march home
