The 4th Cavalry Division was a large unit of the Prussian Army , which was formed as part of mobilization on the occasion of the Sardinian War in 1859, the Franco-German War in 1870/71 and the First World War in 1914/18.

First World War

Initially, the division was deployed on the Western Front and moved to the Eastern Front in early November 1914 . There she remained in action after the peace of Brest-Litovsk and took part in the struggles for the liberation of Livonia and Estonia . At the end of March 1918, the division moved again to the Western Front and fought there until the end of the war.
