5th Guard Division (German Empire)

The 5th Guards Infantry Division was a major unit of the Prussian army in the First World War .

history

The large association was formed on January 10, 1917 and was used exclusively on the western front during the course of the war . After the war ended , the division was demobilized and dissolved in January 1919.

  • September 21-25 --- Trench warfare in the Argonne
  • September 26th to October 9th --- Defensive battle in Champagne and on the Meuse
  • October 11 to November 11 --- Trench warfare in the Woëvre plain and on both sides of the Moselle
  • from November 12th --- march back through Lorraine , the Rhine Province and the Palatinate
