Fritz Droop

Fritz Droop (born March 1, 1875 as Friedrich Wilhelm Droop in Minden / Westphalia , † September 2, 1938 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a German educator , journalist and writer .

Life

Fritz Droop was the son of an official working in the mining administration . He attended secondary school in Dortmund and then completed an apprenticeship at the teacher training college in Herdecke . He then worked as a primary school teacher in Schwelm and , in parallel, studied literary history and philosophy at the universities in Breslau , Heidelberg and Giessen . Later Droop was part of the editorial team of newspapers in Dortmund, Essen and Danzig . In Danzig he also taught as a lecturer in modern literature and musical aesthetics at the West Prussian Conservatory . From 1914 Droop was based in Mannheim , where he wrote for the features section of the " Mannheimer Tageblatt ". Droop took part in the First World War as a soldier ; after 1918 he held occasional lectures at a seminar for employees of the social administration in Weißenfels / Saale . In 1931 he earned his doctorate in philosophy at the University of Giessen with a thesis on the Jesuit drama.

In addition to educational specialist publications, Fritz Droop also wrote narrative works , poems and plays . He also worked as an editor ; u. a. In 1920 he published one of the first anthologies with texts by workers who wrote poetry.
