The 231st Division was a major unit of the Prussian army within the German Army in the First World War .

history

The division was formed on January 16, 1917 on the Western Front and was in service there until the end of the First World War. After the end of the war, the occupied territory was evacuated, the march back home and demobilization and eventual dissolution there.

  • June 14th to 25th - trench warfare between Oise , Aisne and Marne
  • June 28th to August 13th - trench warfare in front of Verdun
  • August 12th to 20th - fighting on the forest mountains north of the Matz
  • August 14th to September 3rd - defensive battle between the Somme and Oise
  • 0September 4 to 18 - fighting in front of the Siegfried Front
  • September 19 to October 9 - Defensive battle between Cambrai and St. Quentin
  • October 10th to November 4th - fights in front of and in the Hermann position
  • 05th to 11th November - fighting in retreat in front of the Antwerp - Meuse position
  • from November 12th - evacuation of the occupied territory and march home
