history
The division was newly formed on September 26, 1916 from Bavarian troops already on the western front and was one of around forty German divisions newly established in 1916. She was first on the Aisne , where she was involved in the 1917 Battle of the Aisne . After a period of rest in Lorraine, the association was moved to Flanders and took part in the Third Battle of Flanders and the Battle of Cambrai . After the spring offensive , the division was disbanded on June 25, 1918 and the subordinate troops were distributed to other divisions.
The allied reconnaissance classified the large association as second class.
